Problem Note 32586: Unable to connect to sas Java exception when attempting to log on to SAS® OpRisk VaR
In the Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese versions of SAS OpRisk VaR, the following Java exception and details might be produced when you attempt to log on to the SAS OpRisk VaR client application:
java.lang.Exception: SAS Connection Failure: Unable to connect to sas. at com.sas.oprisk.var.core.CLogin.processLogin(CLogin.java:191) at com.sas.oprisk.var.core.CLogin.access$000(CLogin.java:37) at com.sas.oprisk.var.core.CLogin$1.execute(CLogin.java:89) at com.sas.oprisk.var.core.worker.Worker$1.run(Worker.java:39) at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source)
This is due to a mistranslation in which the SASHost= option in the opriskvar.ini file is incorrectly assigned to a value of 'host local' instead of 'localhost' when a Direct Connection is specified in the Configuration Editor.
To circumvent this problem, the orvar.ini file must be modified, which can be done as follows:
-
If you have not already done so, use the Configuration Editor to complete the opriskvar.ini file and save it to the system.
-
Locate the opriskvar.ini file in the file system. It is stored in the SAS OpRisk VaR installation directory.
-
Edit the opriskvar.ini file by replacing:
SASHost=host local
with
SASHost=localhost
-
Save the modified opriskvar.ini file.
After completing these steps, restart the SAS OpRisk VaR client application and re-attempt the login.
